I don't have a lot to say about Conacher because he was tearing up the league as the world was recovering from the Great Depression. You can check the entry on Howie Morenz for my general thoughts on the pre-World War II stars. But there can be no doubt that Conacher was the premier goal-scoring right-winger of the 1930s.
Five times he led the league in goal-scoring, a great accomplishment no matter what era you hail from. He never was able to string together a good run of healthy years, but in his peak, he averaged 53 adjusted goals over 67 games, an incredible pace of 0.79 per game. His point totals are also impressive, as his 1.26 PPG rate is right in the conversation with Mike Bossy, Teemu Selanne, etc. In other words, Conacher was nicknamed "The Big Bomber" for a reason: he scored goals at a torrid pace.
Along with Busher Jackson and Joe Primeau, Conacher was part of a line that lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to the championship in 1932 and had them finish runner-up for the Cup five times in the decade, making them something of the Buffalo Bills of the 1930s (although at least the Leafs won once). If the Leafs had perhaps won a few more of those championships, Conacher might rank higher on my Pyramid. But being the premier goal-scorer of his era and one of the all-time great Maple Leafs is enough to place him at least in the conversation of the all-time great right-wingers.
